1. What we collect
SingARoom is designed so guests can join a room quickly without creating an account. When you make an account to host, we store your email address and the room, guest and queue data connected to your account so that your rooms keep working across devices.
Rooms can also be created as "Host Without Account" temporary rooms. These need no login or email; we store the room details, a host credential (kept only as a one-way hash), and a randomly generated device identifier so the room stays under the creator's control.
On your browser we keep small pieces of data in local storage: a device identifier, your current room/session details, and your display name so the room reconnects if you reload. This data never leaves your browser on its own.
The songs you and your guests add to a queue come from YouTube. When searching, your search text is sent to YouTube so we can return matching karaoke videos. We also use IP addresses for security and to enforce usage limits (for example, how many temporary rooms one address can create in an hour).
2. How we use it
We use your data only to run the service: create rooms, show song requests to everyone in a room, remember host accounts, keep the queue in sync in real time, enforce room rules like the per-guest song limit, and prevent abuse. We do not sell or rent your data.
3. Sharing
We do not share your data outside what is visible in an active room, which the room members can already see by design. Third party services we rely on run the infrastructure itself (for example, hosting and the YouTube search API) under their own terms.
4. Retention and deletion
Room and queue data lives for as long as the room is active and is cleared when a room ends. Temporary rooms have a set lifetime and are automatically closed and removed once it runs out. You can delete hosted rooms or your account through the app, and you may reach out to us at any time using the Report page to ask for your data to be removed.
5. Moderation
To keep rooms welcoming, we record device identifiers associated with disruptive behaviour so hosts can remove or ban repeat offenders, and so we can enforce the service rules. Banned devices cannot take part in rooms.
